You
don't have to be chemist to figure out which tire prep to use, but
you do have to make smart choices. With so many solutions to
choose from, ranging from those formulated for racing tires to
those intended to dilute paint (or even more drastic, to preserve
railroad ties) its easy to get confused. Worse yet, it easy to
ruin a good set of tires, or throw away a chance at an important
win.
In
the time we've been racing dirt speedway, we've seen a lot of
different track conditions including tacky, dusty, and dry slick. We've raced under conditions ranging from cold wet days to
summer time scorchers. And as a result, we've had a chance to try
a few things. Being a shop that doesn't like to sell what we won't
use ourselves, we've narrowed down the selection of tire preps
that we recommend.
Note:
Tire hardness is measured in 'durometer' points. If
the tire were as hard as steel, it would measure 100. Therefore,
it would have no give, and would have 100% resistance to flex. If
the tire were as soft as a sponge, it would measure close to
zero. It would give in completely and have no resistance
to flex.
If your track has a little moisture, a lot of moisture, or your
features are run at night mean green is the prep for you.
You will see the best results if
tires have been rolled with HL2 inside. Paint a quick coat on right
before hitting the grid and you will have great bite from the first
lap. If the track is a little
wetter put a coat on in the pits and let it dry then another quick
coat right before hitting the grid. If the track is towards
the dryer side mix mean green and HL2 50/50 and use the same
methods. If this is still to much bite
wipe a light coat with a rag instead of painting
tires. You will be amazed this is the best prep going
for med or lower grip tracks!

This is the purest form, not watered down with
mineral spirits or WD-40
.This prep works best when you need more
bite.
If you are loose this will give you the bite you
need. You can control the amount of bite by the way you apply it.
One quick coat on top of tires 10 min. before you
enter the track will give you some extra bite. Put several coats
on for even more bite.
You can also soak the tires during the week to get
the tires to the desired durometer reading. This will drop the
tires very fast, as low as you want them.
Goat P was blended from the beginning to be a tire softener.
Goat P actually causes the rubber to become softer on the
durometer scale. This is great for tracks with very little
bite, or when you really need to build up more heat. One of
the tricks racers are doing with Goat P is to soften the
tread surface only, on hard tires. This allows the tire to retain
a hard sidewall for a high spring rate, while softening the footprint.
Goat P is a fast-acting softener that gets the job done quickly,
making your tires stick hard the next time out on the track.

When Goat P is too harsh of a prep, try
Wintergreen.
It works on some dry track and some wet track
conditions when you need medium bite.
It will drop the tires about 10 points on the
durometer if applied several times.
Wintergreen tire preps have been on
the market for several years now. However, each brand is
blended differently and some are essentially useless because
they have been over-diluted.
Our Wintergreen is a very
strong blend, allowing you to cut it down with other
chemicals.
Wintergreen provides a great deal
of bite and helps tires heat up quickly. Used in its
pure form, it will load the tires with bite, producing large
amounts of heat quickly. It is an excellent prep to mix with
Speedy 500.

ROLL-O-PREP
is a liquid applicator tool that combines a roller,
sprayer, and container into one easy to use, no mess unit.
It enables the user to store
and apply liquid products from the same device.
The device pumps liquid from
a 32 ounce bottle via a trigger sprayer, where it is then routed
to a special velour roller for easy application to most
surfaces.
Originally developed for
applying tire prep, conditioners, and treatment products to racing
go kart tires. ROLL O PREP has numerous other uses. As long as
your liquid product can be sprayed thru the sprayer then rolled
with the special velour roller, then ROLL O PREP is the answer for
your liquid application needs.
FEATURES:
Chemical Resistant Sprayer / Special 4" Velour Roller / No
Mess Application / Low Cost / Easy To Use
Eliminates Brushes with
Buckets, Rollers with Pans
Comes with Plastic Bottle or
Attaches to Many Existing Products Bottles
Corrosion Resistant Brass
