Solution
Series Dirt Speedway SS11, SS22, SS33
With the advent of tire "cutting" several years ago,
racers have seen their tire bills skyrocket and track owners have
watched participation go down. The good news is; for Burris Tire
users "cuts" offered little or no advantage over "uncuts",
so fortunately for those areas where Burris tires were prominent, there was little or no signs of the drop off in participation. In
fact, just the opposite was true!
In those areas that had strong
Burris "spec" tire programs, they actually showed a
significant increase in entries!
This was in sharp
contrast to other parts of the country, especially in the Southeast,
where "cut" tires are currently the rage. The
"cut" tire situation has gotten so ridiculous, that at
many WKA National and State races in that region this year, many of
the top runners in the Maxxis tire classes were using two to three
sets of tires per class
per day, due to them having to take the new
"half tread" (HT) tires and cutting them down to nothing
to be competitive!! Ironically in the Champ classes at those same
races where they still have a Burris tire rule, it's not at all
uncommon for the front-runners to get two or three weekends, running
two classes, out of a set of tires. The same scenario was true on
the asphalt ovals with open tire rules. Typically the import tires,
were at best, good for one race weekend while the Burris spec
classes ran as many as four or five weekends on the same set!
Burris has taken this advantage, in longevity and
consistency, and combined it with the technology we have derived
from a very intensive R&D program. Out of this came
our new SS (Solution Series) tires.
Before we go any
farther, you say, "what does Solution Series mean". Well,
simply put, it means that the import tires have a problem and Burris
has the "Solution"! Their 8.1-6 molds have been completely
redesigned to offer an optimum profile. One that they feel will allow
the user to run the tire as is without cutting. New
construction techniques and materials also allow the tires to be run
at higher pressures,
which greatly reduces rolling resistance, and
also allows the tire to build temperature quicker, thereby reducing
the time it takes the tires to come up to speed. New revised
formulas for the already highly successful compound selection give
the tires more grip over a wider temperature range. The bottom line
is, their compounders and engineers have really out done themselves this
time to bring you an awesome array of tires.
